Skating

Skating Posted by Hello

There is a commercial for some shoe company out right now that says there are only two motivations in sports, love or money. Then it asks which one you play for. Well I know plenty of kids who played football or basketball when they were kids because of fear, not love and certainly not money. Fear that their parents wouldn't love them as much. Fear that their friends wouldn't accept them. I know of nobody who skates out of fear. It's a completely different motivation when you don't keep score. Parents can't get involved in the same way.

Hmm...but I know skaters who are afraid of being alone, afraid of never getting a girl/boy, afraid that they'll never find the one thing that they excel at...etc. Admittedly, these are very different kinds of 'fears,' but felt it was worth noting that parents aren't the only ones to induce sports-related fear, and that not keeping score doesn't predict fearfulness, in all cases. LOVE the photos...keep em coming!
