J double A double Z, I, E

Don't ask me why, that's just how they spell the dog's name. Jaazzie. It was Megan's first dog ever, after years of begging and doing all of her chores, and years of her parents being big meanies. It was her Christmas present that year, arriving through snow and ice at 2 in the morning. On this past Tuesday, Jaazz had to be put down. Her lungs were filling up with fluid and she was in a lot of pain. Megan's mom had wanted a dog that wasn't hyper, didn't shed, and didn't bark a lot. Jaazzie barked loud enough to make her own ears hurt, shed all over everything, and ran around like an idiot. Still, after 11 years, it's hard to lose a pet. It reminds me of how perfectly normal it was for all those people to stay behind in New Orleans when they were told they couldn't take their pets on the buses.
(Thanks to the Slettens for the pic.)

That's terrible to hear. It's always hard to lose a pet. They're members of the family, so, while loss is certainly normal (we'll almost always outlive them), it's never easy.
And you're right. I wouldn't leave mine behind. They may not be people, but they're family.
My condolences, Josh and Megan.
